"RED ZONES"

The "Red Zone" areas are areas corresponding to the following three-digit zip codes where there has been a tradition of prosecutions or hostility toward typical hardcore materials, and where a prosecution is more likely than in either the "Blue Zones" or the "Yellow Zones". These areas are typically very conservative jurisdictions, traditionally in the southern region of the United States and historically have been the favorite jurisdictions where federal prosecutors like to initiate federal criminal obscenity prosecutions - on the theory that the juries in those regions are less tolerant of sexually explicit materials and thus are more likely to convict.
